Dr. Bern Shen is co-founder of AEDVentures, CEO of Dharma (a Washington, DC-based data science startup), a member of the Silicon Valley Band of Angels, a Swiss Re Digital Analytics "Oracle", & on the Board of Advisors of the UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies. He practiced medicine for 15 years in the US and abroad as a double Board-Certified internist & emergency physician, did medical software and business development for HP and Oracle, led the health practice at the Institute for the Future, and was chief healthcare strategist for Intel’s Digital Health group. Dr. Shen holds an A.B. (biochemistry) from Harvard and an MD, MPhil (molecular biophysics and biochemistry) from Yale.

Majid Al Mail is co-founder of AEDVentures and the Senior Manager at the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), heading the INNOVATOR Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University, has a Diploma in Leadership from Cambridge University, and is a Mubadala Graduate Program alumnus. Majid’s belief in supporting the development of science, technology and innovation in Abu Dhabi has been translated into practice through his set up and management of the INNOVATOR Program, with the aim of supporting high growth technology-related startups. Majid is also the driving force behind a growing awareness of innovation and innovators within the local community. Prior to his role at the TDC, Majid worked for Mubadala Capital and Mubadala GE Capital, based in Abu Dhabi & Chicago over the course of his five years with the company.
